Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused individual to join our optometry team as an Optometric Assistant & Contact Lens Coordinator. This dual role is essential for delivering exceptional eye care services and ensuring a seamless experience for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
Optometric Assistant Duties:
- Perform preliminary testing, including lensometry and autorefraction
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as OCT and retinal cameras.
- Record patient history and update electronic health records accurately.
- Help main administrator with answering phone calls and emails.
- Check-in and check-out for patient appointments, creating invoices and direct billing
Contact Lens Coordinator Duties:
- Educate patients on proper contact lens insertion, removal, and care techniques.
- Manage contact lens orders, inventory, and patient follow-ups.
- Ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards for lens handling.
- Coordinate with vendors for timely delivery and stock replenishment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in optometric assisting preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in an optometry or ophthalmology setting.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and electronic health record systems.
- Strong communication and patient education skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of contact lens types, fitting procedures, and care protocols.
Preferred Skills
- Certified Paraoptometric Technician (CPO-T) or similar credential.
- Experience with soft contact lenses (e.g., sphere, toric, multifocal).
- Familiarity with insurance verification and billing processes.

- Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday
Theo Eye Care
We are a small non-dispensing clinic with a focus on primary care and contact lens dispensing.
We are open Monday-Saturday except Wednesdays and mainly have one doctor working at a time.
Our goal is to have two doctors working at the same time, and therefore require a candidate who is confident with their communication and customer service skills and able to work quickly and efficiently.
Our diagnostic equipment includes an autorefractor, autolensometer, Medmont Corneal Topographer, and i-Vue Retinal Camera and OCT. Documentation is done on an electronic medical records system equipped with e-fax.
